Divine Intervention

It’s been an interesting month with a gig at the Bohemian in Joburg, a broken guitar and some radio play in Port Elizabeth.
Exercising his gift for manager-ness Sholto managed to secure us a gig at the Bohemian in Joburg. This was the first time I have ever been there and I enjoyed the vibe. It’s an intimate venue, catering to music and pool aficionados as well as wild rock bands. We were the first band of three, the other bands being Zaire and Nonaseye. If you’re wondering about the last name, I checked their website and apparently its an acronym for (No Name Seven years). Given the length of time it took for us to find a name and the number of names we went through (Tilt, M.I.A , Locomotor, Shallow Water Blackout, and finally JetPilot), I was thinking we could have called ourselves FANTASY (Finally a name took, after seven years). Anyway, the gig was great - thanks to our Johannesburg supporters for coming along and making it a great event as well as the contingent from Pretoria which included our American supporter who called for an encore. You guys rock!
In other news thanks to Sonja down in P.E. (That’s Port Elizabeth for any Americans that may be reading) who did some leg work and managed to convince the station manager at KingFisher FM that JetPilot was worthy of play-age. So we have been given some radio time down in Port Elizabeth. Yeah, so a huge thanks to Sonja.
And then finally divine intervention: I happened to offer to play some lead guitar at church a couple of Sundays ago and was there suitably early with my trusty Gibson Les Paul Studio. There seemed to be a couple of glitches with the sound so I placed my guitar on the guitar stand provided and turned to help find the problem. There was a huge clunk and I turned around to find my guitar on the ground. On further investigation I discovered that the guitar head, where the tuning pegs are, had snapped. I have to say it was a rather sobering experience. I couldn’t help wondering if this was a message from above as regards my suitability for playing church music. Anyway I have taken it to be fixed and R1200 later it seems to be okay. We shall just have to see.
LATER....

Mercy
Thats not divine intervention, its divine mercy... God not giving us what we deserve ie the punishment of your guitar.
